One Step Ahead

got this from the email box of Rich Persing . . .

A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his customer,
“This is the dumbest kid in the world.  Watch while I prove it to you.”

The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other,
then calls the boy over and asks, “Which do you want, son?”

The boy takes the quarters and leaves.

“What did ! I tell you?” said the barber.  “That kid never learns!”

Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream store.  “Hey, son!  May I ask you a question? Why did you take the quarters instead of the dollar bill?”

The boy licked his cone and replied,”Because the day I take the dollar, the game’s over!”

Fall Champions of 2007

This past season was a tale of two teams.  In the first half, Doug Trout and his team jumped out to a strong lead and never looked back, finishing at 15-3.  In the second half, Team Dormer put up a 16-2 record.  Obviously the big dogs were going to be out tonight as the two teams squared off in the Championship.

Before the first dart was thrown, two things were already decided.

edHighAverageFall07 1

High Average of the Season went to Ed Dormer as he shot a 41.2

chrissyHighGame 1

High Game of the Season went to Chrissy Schu for a 56 game.

Tonight’s action began with Team Trout taking down the first game.  In the second game, Team Dormer came roaring back shooting a season high team score of 254.

In the bully game, Team Trout jumped out to a lead that they never relinquished.  So, I present to you our reigning Champions . . .

Congratulations to everyone who shot tonight (unpictured: Aaron, Randy K, Joe Remash, Joe Zaharik).  it was a great effort by both teams, and a fitting end to a season filled with fun.

Cheers!!!!

Dorko’s Winter Classic

Yesterday was the inaugural running of the Dorko’s Winter Classic dart tournament.  The tournament featured 3-man teams with an average cap of 110.  During the course of the afternoon, several players were able to elevate their game while the lights were shining.

Ed Dormer led individual shooters with an average of 47.7 on the afternoon.  That includes a day-high 57 game.  Not far behind was Joe Swatski, who averaged 46.5 with a high game of 56.

Mark Rohlfling also had a good day, averaging 43.8 with a high game of 51.

Individual performances aside, in the end, two teams seemed destined to meet in the finals.  And when the dust settled, here’s how things ended.

Champions - 2007 Winter Classic

1st Place - Dennis Conti, Joe Swatski, Young Joe Zaharik

WinterClassic07 2ndPlace

2nd Place - Nate Dobek, Douggie Troutman, Damien Zigler

A big round of congratulations to everyone who was able to make it out and spend the day competing, and a special round of applause the winners!  Way to go guys!

i came across this old picture recently, and realized it never made it to the site, so i’m adding a snapshot of the Dorko’s Softball team, circa 1997.  if anyone wants a full scale copy of the pict for printing, let me know.
