Hallmark
Posted by: | CommentsDespite threatening weather on Monday, we gathered for the weekly dose of fun that is . . . Team Trivia.
it looks like Steve and Builder were back with their typical team for the evening. and i noticed that Big A and Tanney were once again part of the crew in the back. so, what will these shifts in alliances bring to the evening? only time would tell.
a big thank you goes out to Mrs. Big A for her rice crispy squares!! they lasted just short of 90 seconds before they were sold out. folks know a good thing when they see one, that’s for sure!
at the beginning of the night several players grabbed a sheet filled with pictures of family guy characters. i was surprised that so many people got so many of them right. there were 40 plus characters to identify. Bubba got the most of them in the least amount of time, winning the prize!
speaking of prizes . . . here’s a pict of the young lady who had her chance to pick an envelope from the “magic envelope pile”.

oh, yeah, we were playing trivia as well.
- What brand name product comes in grape houdini, rocadile red, pink swamingo?
- Name one of two US state capitals that are named for people who were executed.
- What was the name of WNEP’s children’s show hosted by Miss Judy?
- Name the Seven cartoon characters who have their own star on the Hollywood walk of fame.
actually, after four rounds we weren’t quite finished. it seems that we had two teams finish in tie. so, on to the tie breaking question . . .

how many different valentine’s day cards do you think hallmark makes up? and no, it’s not how many do they print. it’s how many different kinds of cards can you choose from?
Vic came closer to the correct answer during the showdown, and he was able to grab the trophy for his team!!

The First Half Wrap Up
Posted by: | Commentswell, we didn’t end up at 9 and 9 across the board as far as dart standings go. the first half came to an end, and indeed we have a clear cut champ. but, it was undoubtedly a very exciting race to the top spot.
Swat’s team went 2 and 1 on tuesday, to claim the first half championship! two of their games were decided by two points. so things went down to the wire.
the first half finish was only part of the exciting action. after i had just explained to Bower how much of an accomplishment i thought Lawler’s 55 game was, someone comes along and sets the bar even higher!
Damien Zigler jumped out of the gates with dogballs in the first inning, and a steady stream of fives and sixes giving him 40 after the 7th. that, is a solid game. but when you go on to close the game by hitting another dogballs and a white horse in the 9th, you’ve really made an impression. and so now the High Game of the Season is a 57!!
and so on Tuesday we start the 2nd half of the season!
STATES: the finals for the state dart tuornament are saturday, starting at 10AM. Doug’s team will be trying to make their way to the top via the one-loss bracket. Good Luck Guys!!!

Dorko’s Survivor Game
Starts Saturday, March 6th
No Cost to Enter & No Purchase Necessary

*Objective – Be the Last Person Left on Dorko’s Island.
Winner receives a Three Hour Party Here at Dorko’s for Themselves and Four Friends.

Rules of the Survivor Game:
1. Game is on every Saturday Night, starting on March 6th.
2. You must enter Dorko’s Bar between 7pm – 11pm. You just have to check in – in person. No purchase required.
3. Every night you do not check in you will receive a strike.
4. Three strikes and you are automatically kicked off the island.
5. Every Satday night that you do not check in you also open yourself up to being voted off the island. At 11:00pm Bob will provide the names of the people that did not check in that night and the people in the game that are present at Dorko’s at 11:00pm each get one vote on who they want to vote off the island. The person with the most votes is out of the game. If there is a tie those names will be put in a hat and one name will be picked out to kick out of the game.
6. If everyone in the game checks in that night, all names will be placed in a hat at 11:00pm. One name will be picked out to be kicked out of the game. To give people with better attendance a lesser chance of being kicked off the island when all participants are present, the names will go into a hat in the following fashion:
- if you have no strikes – 1 entry into hat,
- if you have 1 strike – 2 entries,
- if you have 2 strikes – 3 entries.
7. Every Saturday at 9:00pm there will be an “immunity challenge”. The event will not be announced until that night at 9:00pm. The winner of the “challenge” gets complete immunity for one week of their choice. Immunity means they do not have to check in and they can’t get voted off or picked out of a hat.
8. A minimum of one person will be kicked off the island every Saturday night.
9. Once we get down to the final two survivors the winner will be determined by a vote. The Saturday after we get down to two players the Tribal Council will each get one vote to determine our winner. The Tribal Council will be the last seven people that got kicked off the island. In other words if you make it down to the final nine – you are either going to be one of our two finalists or a voting member of the Tribal Council. The final vote will be at 10:00pm and you must be present to vote. There is no more immunity when we get down to the final two players. If a member of the Tribal Council is not present they will be replaced so we have seven voting members.
Valentine’s Trivia
Posted by: | Commentsmonday was looking to be a snowy night, but that didn’t stop players from making it out to enjoy an evening of trivia! there were some new faces, and a couple of players floating around and joining new teams.
out of the gates this looked to be a fairly matched contest, with teams staying neck and neck during the opening rounds. by the time the third round ended, Four Teams were tied for the top spot. they had battled through questions such as . . .
- What is the nickname for the farmbelt region of the United States? – The Heartland
- What two celebrities have been chosen to host this year’s academy awards?
- What smurf has a tattoo of a heart on his arm?
- What chemical did the ancients call brimstone?
- What instrument appears on a guiness label?
and the final round was going to show whether one team had enough to break away from the pack. before the final results were tabulated, there were a couple of prizes to be given out. after all, it was Valentine’s Day Trivia 
every team took home something. and, a couple of lucky players took home a little something extra. Cheryl did well when she was given the chance to choose from the magic envelope pile. It wasn’t the big $50 winner, but it was the next best thing – a crisp $20 bill.
someone from the crew in the back won the Ski Passes at Jack Frost Big Boulder. they weren’t as photogenic as last week’s ski pass winner . . .

when larry finished handing out prizes, we finally found out that we did indeed have a single team at the top of the scoreboard, congratulations to Johnny Makeup . . .

Next week brings another dose of the same mix of silliness and competition. the start time remains at 7PM, the chicken sandwiches will be in the kitchen, and Larry will be at the mike. the only thing that changes is the beer special!

Posted by: | Commentsthat we could end the first half of the dart season with everyone tied at 9-9. fo course, there is a chance that we could have a clear cut winner as well.
right now, the teams stand at 8-7 or 7-8. so anything’s possible.
last night there were a LOT of solid dart scores. forty games were plentiful. but, they weren’t good enough to keep up with Muff Money. Danny Lawler was simply on his game turning in two 50+ games, including the New Season High game of 55!
STATES:
the two Dorko’s dart teams met each other in the final game in the loser’s bracket on Saturday. and that means we have one team going to the finals – congrats to Doug, Chrissy Schu and Dave Wolfgang.
this week is the final chance to qualify, and the team of Nate, Joe Swat and Corey Hepler will be shooting. Best of luck guys!
Six and Six
Posted by: | Commentsthat’s where all of the teams in the Tuesday Night Dart League stand.
with things as even as you can get heading into the second portion of the first half, things are interesting. skinner kept himself away from Tailgunner status for a second week in a row. Z took that spot this week with an 18.
Joe Swat kept the streak of 50 games alive by throwing a 50 on the dot in a losing effort against Ed’s team.
Biggie had one of the more important darts of the evening. while standing at the line for the triples contest, he managed to land one in the trips.
SATURDAY FOR STATES – there were supposed to be two brackets of teams at States this week, but that has been collapsed to a single bracket that starts at 1pm. unfortunately for us, we have TWO teams headed to Tresckow this weekend. and now they may have to face each other before the day is done. ugh.
these are the last two teams heading up qualifiers, so if you plan on making a trip i’d say head up saturday to support the guys!!

2 ties
Posted by: | CommentsWeek 3 of the spring dart season rolled around on tuesday night. we had chili, yay. oh, and the dart part of it . . . everyone came into the week tied. and since we play three games a night, it would be impossible for everyone to remain tied. so, we did the next best thing.
now, two teams are tied for first, and two teams are tied for second
beavis took the line for the triples event this week, but wasn’t quite able to land one. so, the joy that is the triples event grows even bigger.
and, once again we have a new “high game” for the season. this week Nate Dobek bested the current mark and set the bar at 53. nice darts Nate.
Skinner failed to make the board as Tailgunner. that’s what happens when you’re shooting 20′s and 30′s. don’t worry, there’s always next week!
Larry is Pretty in Pink
Posted by: | Commentswell, not really, but that’s one of the teams from last night’s trivia conTest. errr, it’s one of them that i can put into print at least. Chickalet, i received confirmation this morning, you are indeed going to hell. i can’t tell you when though ’cause that would ruin the surprise. don’t worry though, apparently larry will be there waiting for you, with a cold Old Milwaukee’s Best Ice in hand.

worked into people’s schedule’s last night, as evidenced by a wonderful turnout! and that included Phillipine – great to see you dude! folks worked their way through 40 different trivia questions in their quest to be at the top of the heap when the final buzzer sounded. and, the race was tight. one question did begin to separate teams, and i think it even flip flopped the leaders – but i’m not sure. anyone ever play . . .

Stratego? apparently it’s popular enough to make it’s way into, get this, the Mind Sport Olympics in London. who’d'a thought?
the contest was still tight though, and even with a big bonus at the end no one was sure who would come out on top until the very end. the crew of “The Rizza” made perhaps the most valiant effort of the evening, finishing second with a close-knit team of three!

other big winners include the young lady who had her ticket chosen for the Magic Envelope Pile draw! since the Magic Envelopes contain things like twenty dollar bills, ten dollar bills, and even a fifty dollar bill (right joel?), we can’t forget to mention that!! since you don’t have to answer any questions, and you can win up to $50, it’s the kind of thing that can help start someone’s week off right
