High Low Fall 2009

By

saturday we gathered for an afternoon of fun, camaraderie, and darts.  with the NFL playoffs on the tv screens, and food and drink a plenty, it was certainly a recipe for happiness.

16 shooters from the fall league gathered, so there were perfect tournament brackets for this affair which partners the higher shooters of the league with their lower average counterparts.

as we went through the day, it was certainly necessary to stop and take a moment to recognize the man who stood at the top of the average sheet from the fall . . .

a big round of congratulations goes out to Joe Swatski, who managed to lead the league and win the High Average Award.   the reason you can see him double-fisting the trophies on Saturday is because he is also the man behind the highest game shot during the season, so he took that award home as well!!!

as the day wore on, day turned into evening.  and darts were scheduled to give way to shuffleboard.  except the dust hadn’t settled, and we didn’t have a clear pair of dart champs!  so while the non-darters on the shuffleboard team did their best against the West End, there were still things that were undecided at Dorko’s!!

Jon Jon and Dougie Troutman grabbed third place.  that left a showdown between Randy Kasenych and Chris Kanezo, who were sitting on the winner’s perch, and Ed Dormer and Young Joe Zaharick who were trying to climb out of the loser’s bracket to take the day.

after the first clash, joe and ed managed to pull into even against chris and randy.  and while it’s possible to rise up out of the loser’s bracket and take the day (Doug did it in the last Big Dog event), it’s certainly not easy!

and so there was one last set of games remaining, shuffleboard in the waiting, and the season’s High/Low title on the line.  battle was done, and when the smoke cleared, Ed and Young Joe managed to find their way to the top of the hill!

congrats guys on a gutsy performance and a victory on Saturday
