congrats DOUG TROUTMAN for finishing in third place with his team and RANDY KASENYCH for finishing in fifth place with his guys!!
and the $50 prize goes to . . .
Posted by: | Commentshey guys, big news form the team trivia front!
first off, it’s been confirmed that Larry still looks pretty in pink. and that he dances like Elvis at the evening’s end. that we have on video, but i’m afraid to share it.
secondly, we’ve added a new Prize Contest at the end of the Trivia evening. it’s affectionately referred to as the Magic Envelope Grab, as in the winner gets to grab an envelope from the batch of Magic Envelopes (all of which contain some sort of cash-based prize). once again we have a No Questions Asked Prize opportunity for the Team Trivia players!!!
This week we pulled Joel’s number, so Ox wandered up to the microphone and picked a number. It was the Lucky Number 5, which means he grabbed envelope #5 from the pile and opened it. inside was a nice, not so shiny, but quite valuable . . .
$50 bill
Yay Joel!!! and next week, we’ll do it again! so, there’s more ways to win for everyone. funny how the night’s big winner didn’t have to answer a single question correctly. and next week, it could be you if you’re playing Monday Night Team Trivia!
and now, on to those who did have to answer questions correctly . . . .
as usual, our teams did battle throughout the night answering questions like:
- Name the three sons of Adam and Eve (according to the bok of Genesis)
- Name one of three states that did not participate in the first presidential election.
- Vince Lombardi lost only one NFL post seson game in his career. What team beat him?
at the end of the questioning, two teams stood tied for the lead. they each sent a representative to the stage to answer the tie breaking question . . .
How many acres are in New York’s Central Park?
these two teams had duked it out before in tie breaking situations. in fact, it happened just last week, with the win going to Team Earl Williams for Council. This week the team at the front dartboard took their revenge!!!

Halftime of Fall Darts
Posted by: | Commentswhich means, we have a first half winner.
going into last night’s action, Team Doug was in control of their own destiny. if they swept the night’s games, no one could catch them in the standings.
but, a pair of shooters turned up absent, and the team was unable to overcome that hardship, dropping all three contests. and that put a different face on the entire situation.
team swat jumped on the opportunity to make up some ground in the standings, and took over the lead when it counted most, on the final day. well, at least the final day of the first half. and so . . .
TEAM SWAT takes the FIRST HALF Title
and, at the halfway point in the season, Joe Swat is sitting at the top of the average board as well. the strongest pair of shoulders belongs to Skinner, who is propping up the entire league with his average.
high game of the season seems to be a 53, but that’s subject to change any moment.
and so, after some fine darts, some gutsy team performances, and some great chili from Sandy, we turn the corner on the season and head into second half where anything can happen!
THIS SATURDAY’S TOURNAMENT
YES – it s is true. we’re heading down to the Kroh/Lucas Memorial tournament together in a big team van. it’s a worthy cause, and a great group of travelling companions, so if you’re interested you should definitely go. there’s room on the bus as of right now, flag me down at the bar for details and to make sure it’s not sold out. we leave from the bar saturday at 10 am-ish (that means shortly after 10AM, not doesn’t mean young Joe Zaharick 10 AM-ish).
darts fly at 11, and it’s luck of the draw partners (a high shooter, a middle shooter, and a low shooter). you need to have/take an average, but it’s not about averages. it’s about shooting darts and having a great time!
Funny Test Answers
Posted by: | Commentsi received this in the email a while ago, from several different sources. so, i had thought that everyone had seen it by now. but that’s apparently not the case. so, here’s a couple of quick, safe for work chuckles from some creative minds.

Team Trivia on Monday featured $1 Lagers, per usual, a birthday celebration, the Steelers on the big screen, and a set of NEW CHAMPIONs.
well, that last part was by default, as the old champs were not in attendance. still, new is new. and, it was all decided in style. a heads-up face to face tie breaker. but before i get to that, let’s recap a couple of questions that our teams faced along the way.
What is the only olympic martial art in which kicking is allowed?
What character did Burgess Merideth portray in the original batman series?
Peter Boyle from “Everyone Loves Raymond” was best man at what famous rock couple’s wedding?
i’m not sure how the team of “Larry is Pretty in Pink” fared on those, but I like the team name
when the fourth and final round of questions was finished, two teams – “Earl Williams for Council” and “It’s Rachael’s 19th Birthday” were tied for the lead. Each team sent representatives to stage to receive the tie-breaking question of “How many member states are there in the United Nations?”.
Team Rachael’s Birthday submitted an answer that was off 44. Team Earl Williams submitted one that was off by 42. It’s hard to get a closer margin of victory!!
and so the trophy and accolades of the week go to . . .

Halloween Trivia Recap
Posted by: | Commentsthe trivia Nazi showed up again, cracking the whip in a manner that is unique to Larry . . .
the Halloween version of Team Trivia was certainly about having a good time. After all, it’s beer, food, games, big time sports on the TV, and silliness wrapped up in costume . . .

of course we’re still playing the game. and everyone has designs on knocking off the team that appears to be perennial champs. would it happen on Halloween?
well, players made their way through a list of questions that included:
- How many people were found gulty and hanged during the salem witch trials?
- According to legend, a unibrow, tattoos and a long middle finger are all signs of what creature?
- What silent screen star is known as the man of a thousand faces because he played so many monstors?
Here’s a very rare “multiple choice” . . .
The first jack-o-laterns were made out of:
- A) pumpkins
- B) watermelons
- C) turnips
- D) coconuts
after the questions, but before the final results, we needed to award the prizes for the best costumes. and, we needed to find a new home for “Bongzilla”!!
the most creative costume was “Skrully”. other prizes were awarded, but not to the trivia nazi. he’s a winner in his own special way
tables chose a flag from the “pick a Flag” rack, and the team of “vote for tony matt tomorrow” were chosen to compete for Bongzilla, the 12 pack beer bong.
the constest? Bobbing for Apples!!
Vic pretty much smoked the competition, nailing down an apple in four seconds flat, and taking home the prize. it’s rumored that Bongzilla will have a resting place in the OBX with some trial runs taking place over the weekend. excellent job Vic!
Holly mentioned that there are some great picts of the Apple Bobbing contest are floating around. if i get them i’ll post them.
after the revelry died down to a low roar, there was a single team that stood atop of the hill . . . .
hucklebuck’s all stars!!
