after a one week Labor Day induced hiatus, Trivia Night was back in full swing last night, with seven different teams vying for the title.  last night brought some interesting partnerships, and a new team into the mix. 

a big thumbs up goes out to the “Deadbeat Pigpens” for holding their own against bigger teams in their first Team Trivia contest!

they were testing their wits with questions like . . .

• What device is used in semifore signalling?

and

• In what nursery rhyme is the main character a pieman?

while all of this was happening, several souls were working on a background puzzle that was given at the beginning of the evening . . .

the Puzzle of Planting Trees:

A farmer planted ten trees.  When he was done he noticed that he made five rows of trees, with four trees in each row.  Show a diagram of his orchard.

there were two correct diagrams submitted by the end of the third round, and these folks were the keen thinkers who submitted them . . .

i won’t give away the fun, but one major hint is that some trees need to be part of more than one row (or you’d run out of trees pretty quick). 

Meanwhile, back on the ranch . . . some people weren’t quite able to complete the lyrics to this timeless classic:

The big question that separated one team from the pack was “Name the Five original VJ’s from the birth of MTV”.  Those, I could name.  I couldn’t tell you if they even have VJ’s anymore.  is Kurt Loder still on the beat?  doesn’t matter . . . .

at the end of the night, the newly formed team  – The MegaPowers took down the title, and the first win of the fall season of Team Trivia!
