a playoff, to get into the playoffs
Posted by: | Comments
just got back from darts tonight. i’m sure several of the guys are still there shooting after the matches finished.
the stage before tonight’s activity had doug’s team and joe’s team tied going into the final night of action. they were playing team muff and team ed, so whichever team could eek out more wins against their opponent took the second half title. and for joe’s team this would mean a clean sweep for the season since they already won the first half.
Doug’s team did the best they could tonight, winning all three games. and joe’s team equalled their efforts, winning all three of their games.
what happens now? we come back next week to find out who wins the second half of the season in a playoff to see if we’re having a first half/second half playoff!!
for doug’s team, it’s like having to come out of the loser’s bracket in a double elimination tournament. and although it isn’t easy, it’s been done before. so, the excitement continues next tuesday.
and one more note about tonight . . . Brokey took over the heart of the kitchen, walking me through making his version of the famous Philly Ribeye Cheesesteaks. he did the final seasoning on the shredded steak, and the steak sauce, and in a word – it was Phenomenal! it tasted like . . . more! and it all vanished in the blink of an eye, so super thumbs up on the grub Brokey!!!
it’s these guys . . .
Posted by: | Commentsin response to the burning question at trivia night, here are . . . .
the statler brothers!
in case you missed it, the team that rose to the top of the team trivia contest last night was named “Who are the Statler Brothers?”. they’ll be able to proudly display the first place trophy during next week’s trivia contest.
during the night several easter baskets filled with candy and other assorted goodies made their way to new homes. congratulations to the people who were able to . . .
- list all of the people who presided over the united states during the 20th century
- name the temperature that is the same in both farenheit and celsuis
- list all of the family members of “The Incredibles”
and a T shirt goes to Tanney (his collection grows) for naming all of the continents in order of their size.
can you say “All 50 Presidents?”. i’m sure if we had 50, our lad would be able to name them all, in order, in under 45 seconds . . .

my favorite question might have been “What is the first fruit to appear in a Pac Man maze?”.
TONIGHT: the final day of the regular season of darts is taking place tonight. two teams (Doug’s and Joe’s) are tied, and so tonight’s action should determine who wins the second half of the season. but, there may be a tie for second half champ as well, depending on how the games go tonight. so everything is on the line for Team Doug!!
OPEN MIKE ON WEDNESDAY – Mikey Z and the boyz will be out on Wednesday to make some live music in the back room. it should be a great time, with some new faces taking the stage. i even heard a rumor that george and trout will be doing a short set, so be sure to come out and catch the action. things kick off at 8pm . . . ish.
Oh, and no weekly update is complete without checking in on our lads . . .
Happy birthday Cookie

the cake was marble, in case you were wondering.
also on Saturday, Dorko’s had 3 teams in the finals of the Silver Bullet Dart Tournament in Nescopeck. in the end Doug Troutman’s team advanced the furtherest, finishing in 4th place!! nice job to everyone who shot (Nate, Ed, Kirk, Swat, Doug, Danny, Mark) and a big thanks to everyone who went up to show their support.
meanwhile back at the tavern . . . the Shuffleboard team was facing off against the West End (Grem’s Squad). we managed to put up a clean sweep – and with only one week left in the season it looks like we have a strong chance at the title!!
TONIGHT – is Wing Night, as well as the NCAA finals on the big screen, and of course . . . .
The EASTER edition of TEAM TRIVIA. hopefully i’ll see you all later . . .
