Open Mike Night
Posted by: | CommentsLast night we gathered in the pool room, set up a small PA, and a set of drums, and had our first “Open Mike” night. I’d like to thank everyone who came, plugged in, and made the night a great time.

Mikey Z started the evening off, and ended it in style. In between, some of the younger guys took the stage and played some blues (including Robert Johnson’s 32/20 – oh yeah!).

There was a lot of jamming going on, including an evening’s worth of percussions from Skrully and harp a la Al Maschal. We’re planning on setting up again next week and filling the air with Music of all kinds between 8pm and 11pm on Wednesday.
Team Trivia Night
Posted by: | CommentsMonday is already Wing Night at Dorkos. But we’re expanding, and now Monday Night is also Team Trivia Night !!
To begin with, here’s how it works . . .
Anyone can show up and play. Before we start testing the minds of the players, probing for what some might consider useless knowledge, players gather into Teams. A team can be as many or as few people as you’d like. Of course bigger teams have a better chance of answering the questions correctly, but if they win, the prize money would need to be split amoung a larger group.
The questions come in all types of categories – from school subjects like geography and history to entertainment, sports, current events, and things you might know from just keeping your eyes open as you wander through life.
There are Four Rounds of 10 questions each. Teams write their answers on a answer sheet, and submit them at the end of the round. You get a point for every correct answer.
Giveaway questions take place between the rounds – and these questions go to the individual (not the team), so if you’re the first to answer correctly, you’ll win a prize.
At the end of the night, the team with the most points wins the prize money.
Last week that team was Tanney, Varano, and some guy I don’t know – but they kept calling him “trebek”. i think he was a ringer.
Larry “Elvis” Wisnieski hosts the event, and you couldn’t ask for a better Master of Ceremonies. A good time was had by all last week, and we’re looking forward to doing this again – so come on out on Monday and test your Trivia skills!
Shuffleboard Season has Begun
Posted by: | Commentsaction for the 2008-2009 Mt Carmel Shuffleboard league began over Thanksgiving Weekend. I should have a full schedule shortly.
The season began with a tight contest between Dorko’s and the Eagles, with Dorko’s finishing ahead in a 5-4 match.
