iPod, uPod, we all Pod
Posted by: | Commentsif you’ve been to the tavern recently, you’ve noticed the disturbing lack of a juke box.
odd as it seems, something as trivial as having no cd box won’t keep music from filling the air on the corner of fourth and poplar. what we’ve been doing instead of sharing the song selections at the box has been to hook up an iPod to the house PA and wander through some people’s playlists.
so far a big thumbs up to young joe dowkus for sharing his library of tunes friday night, and again on saturday evening. young joe zaharick for setting up the background sounds for the dart tourney saturday afternoon. and karen for having a distinctly poppy collection of songs that filled in the spaces between.
if you’re coming out during the week, feel free to bring your iPod and share some tunes with the rest of us!
Invitational Dart Tournament Results
Posted by: | Commentson saturday we ran the first Dorko’s Invitational Dart Tournament. the idea behind the tournament was to try something new, and that meant letting anyone who regularly shoots at the bar, or with us in tournaments, test their skills against each other.
it was a Singles tournament, with No average caps, no handicaps, and no excuses. here’s a team photo of the players who answered the call, and came out for the event . . .

a big congratulations goes out to all who entered:
young joe zaharick, dennis conti, nate (behind), muff money (with the rabbit ears), doug, ed, randy kasenych, kozie, jay parker, zig, joe zaharick sr., biggie (john polites), and corey helper (not pictured).
if you’ve ever shot darts at the bar, it was just solid match up after solid match up. great competition, great fun, friendly atmosphere – and it brought out the best in people. over a half dozen times the winning score was 50 or better, including the first game of the finals where Nate finished with a solid 47, only to lose to Ed’s 50 game.
throughout the day games were often decided in the 9th inning, and over a half dozen contests were won by a single point!!
when the day wound down to the final two contestants, Nate emerged from the loser’s bracket to face Ed in a contest that took three games, and one in which the winning scores were 50 – 48 – 47. well done gentlemen!! an congratulations to Ed for taking the top spot on this day.

2007/2008 Combined High Low
Posted by: | Comments
having seasons that span two years makes it seem like Hockey. but it’s not. it’s DARTS.
we decided to run a combined hi/low tournament for all of the shooters from the fall of last year and the spring of this year. So, last Saturday food was on the tables, and darts were in the air at roughly 1:30 as a crew of shooters gathered to eat, drink, and be merry – while gathering around the dartboard.
when all was said and done, Randy and Andy came out at the top of the pack. So, Congratulations to our Combined High Low Champions!!
