Where is the Treskow Fire Company, and How do you Get There from Dorko’s?!?

ok, since you’ve asked.  here’s the scoop:

Tresckow Fire Company

26 East Oak St.

Tresckow PA 18254

Take:

Exit 39A off of Route 81

- you can get there from the north (via 924 - ringtown, brandonville, shepton, etc.) or the south, but that’s the exit.  from the looks of the map, if you can hop on 81 through mah(k)ony city, that might be the best route.

At the end of the ramp, go straight for Two Traffic Lights
Turn Right

Travel 1 1/2 miles (approx)

Straight onto Oak Street
go One Block
, it’s on the Right

it sits on the corner, so you can make that right at the intersection and find parking in the rear.  don’t park in front of someone’s house (the one neighbor has had someone ill in the family and they needed to keep an ambulance path clean, so it’s not simply a matter of courtesy), there’s plenty of room on the side and in the back.

unfortunately, i don’t have a phone number for the fire house should you get lost on the way.  but, if you stop at the bar there’s a good chance someone else will be going up, so you can either find a ride partner, or perhaps get a cell phone number for someone who can guide you in.

so those are the contestants.  seems we’ll have a representative at states nearly every weekend.   remember, we’re shooting at the Treskow Fire Company.  which again, begs the question of where is it, and how do you get there.  i’ll post direction in a minute . . .

Dorkos 6 - Clover Hose 3

it turns out my info on the standings was a week old ?!!  so, we weren’t in first place heading into tonight’s contest.  instead, we were in 2nd, by a point (Clovers 35-10, Dorkos 34-11).

tonight, the lead changed hands, as Dorko’s came out with a 6-3 victory, giving us first place in the Mt. Carmel Shuffleboard League standings.

You can’t escape the obvious . . .

A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store but she couldn’t find one big enough for her family.

She asked a stock boy, “Do these turkeys get any bigger?”

The stock boy replied, “No ma’am, they’re dead.”

Dorko’s vs Clover’s in Shuffleboard this Weekend

a quck glance at the shuffleboard standings shows Dorkos with a 29-7 record followed by the Clover Hose with a 26-10 record.

these two teams meet in this week’s marquee match-up of the Mt. Carmel Shuffleboard League - at Dorko’s Cafe.  the match begins at 7-ish.

Dates for States

we’ve gotten the call for two more teams that will be headed to States this year.

Ed Dormer

Kirk Wimble

Joe Swatsky

if you’re interested in going up to watch the fun and cheer them on, but aren’t sure where the Treskow Fire Co. is, stop at the bar.  odds are there will be a group going up that you can either join or follow.  at the least you can get some directions.

Feb. 17th Team Two will be going up to compete

Dave “Hobo” Hobowski

Corey Helpler

Danny “Muff” Lawler

there will be at least two more teams going, so when we get the call for them, i’ll post up the dates they’ll be shooting as well.

Spring Dart League

the sign up sheet has been out for a while, so if you’re interested in shooting but haven’t made it to sign up, please do so over the weekend.

darts for the new season fly at 7:30 on Tuesday accompanied by the traditional opening day Burgers in Sauce.  oh, we’ll be offering beer for sale as well.  an unbeatable combination of pleasures.

the teams will be determined in a quick drafting session that starts Tuesday at 7:00.  so if you’re not sure who you’re shooting with this season, you’re not the only one.  all will be made clear on Tuesday.

Chris Schu, Danny Dowkus, and Doug Troutman

working together as a team, have advanced to the finals of the PA State Dart Tournament!  congratulations guys, good shooting!

this means that they will be able to sit back as other teams fight to qualify over the next several weeks.  then, they get to go right into the finals tournament being held on Saturday February 24th !!

States kicks off - Plus we have our Hi/Low Champions

quite the eventful day here at the corner of Fourth and Poplar.  today we hosted the hi/low tournament for the participants of the fall dart season.

after a full days worth of darts in the air, in the end one team jumped out to a lead and never looked back.  by going undefeated early in the day, Sammy Mroz and  Bill Derr earned a spot on the winner’s perch in the finals.  and, after the one-loss bracket boiled down, Sammy and Bill overcame the “we’ve been sitting an aweful long time” syndrome to come up big, and win the tournamnet.

the shufflebaord team is in action again tonight on their only away match of the month.  more info on that next week.

AND - the PA State Dart Tournament starts tomorrow, and one of the handful of Dorko’s Teams will be competing at the Treskow Fire Company.  Doug Trout, Danny Dowkus, and Chris Schu will be competing as a team, representing Dorko’s, and we wish them well!!
